Check out what these National Green Schools Society Members have been up to. Awesome job!
We are the Environmental Eagles, a group of 4th and 5th grade students at the Captain Samuel Brown School in Peabody. Our job is to make sure everyone is recycling properly and encourage students and teachers to do the same. The Environmental Eagles have been working on environmental projects at the school for the past 7 years and have been doing a lot of different things. This year in November we collected data for the Recycle Bowl. What is the Recycle Bowl? It is a national competition run by Keep America Beautiful. All grades from K-12 compete. The objectives are to increase recycling rates in schools that already recycle. In December, we had elections for the NGSS. We have a president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, and communication officers. During January the Environmental Eagles did JRM art projects. One big project was the tab bracelets made of gimp and soda tabs. They cost $2 each and we made about $50 already. We just found out we won the Recycle Bowl in Massachusetts and we are going to celebrate in our school.
