We are high school students who meet each week after school to participate in projects that include planting gardens on campus and learning about the environment. Some of us participate in the school’s Forestry Club, some assist in creek clean-up projects. Many of us enroll in additional science classes to learn more.
Our members’ past accomplishments include participation in the California Department of Food and Agriculture’s video series posted on the CDFA website; partnering with outside agencies, such as the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, to install native California gardens on our campus; and winning first place in this year’s California Forestry Challenge in Santa Cruz. Students are currently installing a water recovery system outside our school greenhouse so we can re-use rain water during our historic drought.
