Planet Aid has been a partner of Project Green Schools for over seven years and has helped carry out student environmental service projects since then. They are a nonprofit organization that collects and recycles used clothing and shoes (you may have seen their striking yellow bins) and also supports sustainable development in impoverished communities around the world.

Planet Aid and Project Green Schools are working toward a common goal: to educate youth on the importance of protecting the environment and create positive change for the earth. Youth are the gateway to a healthy future for the planet and its inhabitants.

Thousands of schools across the United States already host a Planet Aid recycling bin, which makes it easy for the school community to reduce waste. If your school does not have one yet, contact Planet Aid about hosting a bin.

Along with bin hosting, Planet Aid offers other programs to encourage eco-friendliness in schools and broaden student awareness of global development issues. Planet Aid’s knowledgeable staff is available for classrooms visits to help students understand what textile recycling is about and how saving resources helps people and the earth. Planet Aid is also available to help you organize a clothing recycling drive at your school.

Contact Planet Aid at (508) 893-0644 or email schools@planetaid.org for more information and to find out how you can begin your project.
