Amari resides in the Bay Area, California and is currently a high school sophomore and an enrolled citizen of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation.

Amari is serving his third year as News Editor for Project Green Schools’ National Youth Council. He is responsible for recording meeting minutes, developing monthly newsletters for National Youth Council members, and identifying opportunities to share with members. He also serves as the News Editor for the Shared Skies Initiative, where he produces a biweekly newsletter focused on environmental and air quality issues. Amari believes written communication is a powerful tool, and he enjoys using words to encourage others to care for the environment and take action.

Amari is deeply committed to protecting the environment for his community. He is an active Scout, and in 2023, he adopted a local park with a creek, where he and his sister organize cleanups several times each month. He also volunteers at community tree-planting events. Amari has met with his mayor, city council members, and other local leaders to advocate for environmental initiatives and believes youth play an important role in creating environmental change. The Santa Clara County Alliance of Black Educators honored Amari for his leadership and civic engagement.

Amari is interested in the impact of environmental issues and climate change on historically underserved communities, and he brings this perspective to his leadership roles within Project Green Schools. He considers it a privilege to serve on Project Green Schools’ Leadership Team and has served as a Co-Lead for the National Youth Council Energy Committee since 2023. He has completed Project Green Schools’ Climate Ambassador Training. Through service, leadership, civic engagement, and communication, Amari hopes to create lasting, positive change for both people and the environment.
