Athena is a sailor, marine engineer, and educator by trade. She has spent the last eight years working in the maritime industry teaching sailing and environmental stewardship to children and adults around Narragansett Bay, Rhode Island. Athena graduate from the University of Rhode Island in 2023 with a B.S. in Marine Affairs and B.A. in Political Science. She then continued education at IYRS School of Technology and Trade in marine systems becoming an ABYC Certified Marine Technician. Athena revolves her career around education and encouraging her community to become advocates for the environment.

Athena currently works for Sea Education Association (SEA) as an engineer. Working aboard on the brigantines Corwith Cramer and Robert C. Seamans, Athena assists with the operation of the engine room and students education. Corwith Cramer and Robert C. Seamans focus their operations on oceanographic research and sailing education vessels.
