Diya, a junior at Reedy High School, is deeply passionate about environmental conservation and is excited to serve as the Co-President of the National Green Schools Society. Her journey into sustainability began with her award-winning project Preserve the Prairie, which raises awareness about the Blackland Prairie and other endangered ecosystems through school visits, community presentations, and hands-on restoration efforts like seed-ball making events.
In addition to Preserve the Prairie, Diya founded NativeScape, a landscaping business that blends native grasses requiring minimal water and maintenance. Her work has been recognized in the U.S. House of Representatives, and she has spoken at events about merging business with sustainability.
This year, Diya is really looking forward to helping students grow their love for sustainability and conservation through the council and creating more hands-on opportunities to get involved. When she’s not working on her projects, Diya enjoys baking desserts for friends and family, practicing dance, and playing with her dog.
