Her journey into sustainability began with her award-winning project, Preserve the Prairie, which focuses on raising awareness for the Blackland Prairie and similar endangered ecosystems through presentations and talks at schools, libraries, and other public areas, as well as tangible projects such as creating seed balls to aid with prairie restoration.

In addition to Preserve the Prairie, Diya founded NativeScape, a business that offers innovative landscaping solutions by blending native grasses that require minimal water and maintenance. Her work has been celebrated in the U.S. House of Representatives, and she has also given talks at multiple events on merging business and sustainability.

This year, Diya hopes to inspire others to join her in environmental advocacy and make meaningful contributions to sustainability efforts at NGSS. When she’s not working on these projects, you can find her baking desserts for her friends and family, practicing dance, or playing with her dog.
