Laila is a rising sophomore at John Champe High School with a strong passion for sustainable infrastructure and climate advocacy. She recently launched a rainwater garden campaign to raise awareness about urban runoff and its environmental impact—reaching over 1,800 views and interactions. Through this project, she collaborated with her local soil and water district to explore how runoff and pollution affect biodiversity and local economies. Currently, Laila is interning with Sustainability Matters, a national nonprofit focused on promoting native species and restoring ecosystems. She is also an award-winning animator, having won the Gold Prize in the Bow Seat Ocean Awareness Contest for a film about climate change and public perception. Laila hopes to help PGS (Project Green Schools) build meaningful partnerships with other organizations and use creative storytelling to share the impactful work of its members. She is dedicated to making content that inspires and educates others in the fight for a sustainable future.
