Policy Coordinator
Madhavibala Mohanakrishnan is a junior at Ridge High School, New Jersey, who combines creativity in art and writing with a passion for advocacy, climate justice, and youth empowerment. She is the founder and executive director of GreenWaySquad, a 35+ member youth-led organization dedicated to increasing climate education through sustainable art workshops, creating environmental curriculum, and writing articles. With chapters across the world, in the United States, the UAE, India, and Belgium, she hopes to make a worldwide impact in sustainability, and already has through her 4 community art workshops which have used 70+ plastic water bottles. She received a grant from Youth Creating Change (YCC) for her project, and as YCC Co-Chair of Outreach this year, she hopes to provide leadership training and grants to various youth with environmental projects in the coming years. Currently, she is working on a research paper on environmental education and climate justice, and hopes to publish her paper and make an impact. In the future, she hopes to pursue environmental policy to fight for marginalized communities unfairly being impacted by climate change, and she hopes to use her experience as a Policy Coordinator in her public policy career.
